Join the world at www.charterforcompassion.org to write the Charter for Compassion.

The Charter brings together the voices of people from all religions. It seeks to remind the world that while all faiths are not the same, they all share the core principle of compassion and the Golden Rule.

The Charter will change the tenor of the conversation around religion. It will be a clarion call to the world.

  • As a Christian minister in Australia, I so strongly applaud, suppor and encourage these understanding and calls to us all. So may it be.

  • And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:30-31).

  • There is no compassionate side of religion. People don't learn compassion from a book, There is no magical passage you can read to help you understand the suffering of others. It something one gains through interaction with the world and empathy. Dogmatic actions performed due to divine command, should never by themselves be justification for any action.

  • Kudos! Cha-cha, way to go. Good work in the closed captioning of the Charter for Compassion video.

  • Excellent video. In a world full of genocides and apathy, compassion is one of the few things we've got that is truely good. It has the capacity to transcend every barrier, I sincerely hope that humanity as a whole may one day set aside violence and fear and learn to love and forgive. I hope that everyone can know happiness

  • @WhiteStarWoman More accurately, the "God that is me" is Humanism, yet I point to Unitarian Universalism as the one religion that doesn't condemn - and allows people of any faith to join them. I would at least check out your local congregation *hint* *hint* . ;)

  • @Etular Is that what it's called? All I know is I gave organized religion the best years of my life only to be in a constant state of depression and guilt. Five years ago I had an awakening and haven't looked back. Now I'm happy and love my life and would never go back to religion again. Praise me! LOL

  • @WhiteStarWoman It surprises me how few people have ever heard about Unitarian Universalism.

  • You can speak all you want of compassion but "by your works ye shall be judged" and so far none of the world's religions are doing well. I'm better with the God that is me, thank you!

  • @danwazhere7 It is dangerous to get bogged down in the law and miss the essence of Jesus command, which is to love and show compassion for one another above all. What is it if you have “so called” found Jesus and do not love.
