Coz/Effect: From Pencil to Screen

Hey guys - I put together a little behind the scenes making-of video of the Coz/Effect movie so you can see how an animated movie is made.

Stage 1 - Animatics, this is where we take the pencil storyboards and time them to music and sound to test the pacing. Once approved the move to roughs

Stage 2 - Rough Primary Animation - using the approved models, the animators do rough each scene focusing on posing and not expression. Facial expressions and other details are secondary animation that are added after the primary animation is approved.

Stage 3 - Rough Secondary Animation (not featured in clips) - this is where facial expressions, eye movements and other details are added after the primary posing is approved.

Stage 4 - Final Render - upon approval of the roughs by the director, the final render is compiled for the movie.

man your really skilled, do you do any tutorials? im trying really hard at making 3D animations but still failing \ : 5/5

Hey thanks a bunch. I actually did the character designs storyboarding and directing, I worked with other animators who did the 3D at our studio so I'm probably not the best to give 3D tutorials LOL

What program did you use to make this? I am very interested in making an animated movie.
