I love this 1979 song.........movie theme song of The Promise by Danielle Steele. Quite romantic love story......"and I promise you........I'll never say goodbye." Very idealistic line.......but sometimes promises are made just to be broken....

When I went to see Melissa Manchester in concert a few years back , I had her sign a cd and asked her why this song was not on one of her albums . It was due to a contract dispute with the distributor/ copywriter holder. What a shame . I own the movie and the sheet music . It is one of my all time favorites.

I had this movie on video cassette - lol (talk about an old movie) anyway, I watched it so often I knew the dialogue by heart and when the cassette got destroyed I cried for a week straight. I really loved this movie and I still do - beautiful love story.

I love this song. Judy Collins has a really beautiful version of this song, but it is really hard to find. It's on the Hard Times for Lovers album.
