Poverty Pimps in California

Today, I experience to two tragic incidents on the light rail that demonstrates the future harm that Dickerson's bill has placed on the African American Children of Sacramento. It concerns me that he had 100% support for this bill and it's now has become law with out community input. Over night Sacramento has become a police state. Upon the announcement in the Sacramento Bee at 8:00 a.m. in the morning at the Fruit ridge Station had two Sacramento Police officers and one Sheriff waiting to give tickets to students on there way to school. I was horrified to see at 3:00 p.m. at the Sacramento City College Light Rail several police cars with a patty wagon, and over seven officers with a dog ticketing students as they entered or exited the light rail. It was terrifying to observe as I sat on the light rail. I usually spend four hour each day on the bus and the light rail never in two years have I experience anything more distressing than what I observed today.

The idea that the students are being targeted before and after school by the police to get a misdemeanor is terrifying. Many of you may be aware that public assistance and school districts have been reduced and restrictions on free buss passes throughout Sacramento County. Our students are being unfairly targeted to have a police record.
