  • Ok people, set up a new aquarium about 5 weeks ago, and i bought a orange platy, presumably a female, and its been real shy till this morning, when one of my swordtails died, and then this platy just lies on the bottom of the tank, upright, but doesnt move that much, cant tell whats wrong with this fish and cant find it anywhere on a website? can anyone help?

  • @D3M0N1996 theres most likly a disese in the tank. or the fish is not used to it.

  • I didn't know that platies would try to eat their babies. About a year ago, I had two sunset platies and one of them gave birth, I think twice. So obviously I had a male and female. The first ones that she had, I'm guess that she was pregnant when I bought her, because she had them very shortly after being bought. A lot of her second babies didn't make it. Only one did, and I named him Lucky. It really sucked when he died. : (

  • @godsmack875 aww that cool i like the name placement to and im sorry he died. if you saw my baby hamster video i came home to on of them face down in the water dish (he drowned) and i got him out and revived him it took 20 or 30 min. and he was just starting to grow hair so he was still a pinky kinda and i named him lucky aswell.

  • I heard these fish do well with bettas, what is your opinion?

  • @shortkid2929 it depends on the gender

  • Hi I have 2 platys and ones a girl and ones a boy how can they mate they r in a biube with 3 tiger barbs 3 penguin tetras and 5 neon tetras

  • I have a platy that is looking like she is egg bound. i raised the temp and salt in the tank and no change. any other ideas?

  • @Nobodyknowbutgodknow nope :D as long as the water isnt really cold, room temperature is fine, mine used to live without a heater and they were happy, theyre just a tad more active with a heater.

  • @D3M0N1996 my platy sometimes just chill on the floor and all my other fish are fine, unless it looks sick, i wouldnt worry, though if you can, add some 'gold disease safe'.

its pretty good stuff (gold is the make)

  • as you can see his, his, his........wang

  • That platy in the big picture in the second slide is called a peppermint platy.

  • nice tank and fish U SHOULD COME AND CHECK OUT SOME OF MY VIDS!!

  • @xSomeRandomKidx Don't use a water dish with small animals. Use a bottle.
