This version of Daffy Duck would kick Bugs Bunny's ass
-
I think that someone needed to tell Chuck Jones that his name was Daffy Duck, not Angry Duck

@4thekidsTV 1950s TV was notorious for trying to rid content of anything sexual or controversial (such as racial integration), so I'm guessing that violence on TV wasn't a big deal until at least the 1970s.

Dear 4EverYoung, The reading of the bumps on the head gag and the painting
the palm red gag(Which "Daffy Duck"performed as a Jerry Colonna
like Swami)that was still in the film. And so was the scene where "Mr.Meek"blasted poor"Daffy"
and he stood there in his birthday suit..without any feathers on. How that gag was permitted to remain in the film and the striptease
gag was edited out of the film in those days? I will never know?

@4thekidsTV I stand corrected then. My childhood was the 1980s and 1990s, so I was able to see it uncut on cable TV. By any chance was the punchline to the "let me read the bumps on your head" part cut in the 1950s and 1960s or do you not recall?
-
Dear 4EverYoung, The strip tease scene was cut back in the late 1950's and into the 1960's.
This when I first watched this cartoon on local NYC tv..I didn't see the complete
print of the film..until many years later on TBS,TNT and on The Cartoon Network
(When these three cable tv stations still reran the vintage "Looney Tunes" and
"Merrie Melodies"movie cartoons).
-
@UltimateThanos Well, glad I mentioned it. There's also "Thumb Fun" where he hitchhikes with Porky.

The striptease part was never edited on TV (and I remember seeing this cartoon on TBS, TNT, *and* Cartoon Network). A local station *did* cut the part where Daffy hits Mr. Meek on the head during the "let me read the bumps on your head" part (but not the "how many lumps does your wife give you" part). So I guess stripping is okay, but head trauma isn't (at least on American TV)? The only places I could imagine the striptease part being cut is in Britain or Australia.

@The4EverYoung85 I know, I love that one. It's the perfect example of what I was talking about. ^^

No wonder why this episode was banned, but hey still Daffy is the best back in the 50's right? I still love Bugs Bunny but Daffy on the other hand must've been better than Bugs.
