To preface ths response, I am a 17 year old living in Las Vegas. I do agree that teaching about religious ideas and being able to display religious forms of art is necessary. However, from my experience, schools are not atheistic at all. In fact, most teachers in public schools are devout Christians, and when teaching subjects like history or biology, go out of their way to say "It's ok if you don't agree with this, you just have to know about it". This doesn't create lack of purpose at all.

I believe in separation of church and state but this is nuts - To thank God or Allah who gives a damn - If a child is Jewish , christian, or..... then he or she should be able to express it in school within reason.

"Separation of church & state" is a phrase that is heard everywhere & often.
