This great documentary depicts the 1st Ottoman Siege of Vienna in 1529 when Suleiman the magnificent & his great ottoman army failed to take Vienna in their 1st attempt. I have great respect for Vienna & its heroic defenders which withstood 2 huge Ottoman sieges in 1529 & 1683 & won them both. Here u'll see how the Viennese & the Landsknechts Mercenaries fought the Ottoman Turks to save Europe from Islam.
Hail Vienna!!! †
Hail Europe!!! †
Hail Christendom!!! †
it's a nice documentary, but you can't deny its one-sidedness

@sopar3169: The video was also pretty propagandist but the historians seemed to be pretty legit. It is wierd how everytime someone posts one of these historical videos it turns into a racial fight.

And Vienna gained the eternal respect and thankfulness of all of us, Europeans! it managed what Constantinople failed to do: stopping the expansion of these barbarians in central Europe and giving Europeans the space and time to flourish and create their unique civilization!
But i got a question... In that time, the people of Vienna how do they call themselves? Austrians, Germans, Viennese or simply Christians? Any Austrian friend to answer, pls? (I don't insult anybody asking this, isn't it?)

@hglundahl dude, i'm simply replying the same way they talked to me, i'm not saying WHY they'r called janissaries but what i said is they were mostly sons of Christians with slaughtered parents.
