Jacob Soboroff got a chance to ask Senator Russ Feingold "why" today at the Clinton and Bernice Rose Senior Center in Milwaukee, WI. This was the Senator's 999th "Listening and Learning" session. Maybe he'll celebrate the 1000th by telling everyone why we vote on Tuesday!

  • I don't understand how this is suppose to prove a point...Do you really expect politicians to know that? Do you really expect anyone to know that?

  • thanks for commenting. the point is that people don't know, and actually your question underlines why we think that's relevant. why would anyone know? it's a strange and arcane bit of trivia that's completely removed fom anything that matters. (continued...)

  • which is exactly why it's worth discussing. that something so incredibly fundamental as the day on which we vote- the day on which we exercise the right that's both the practical and philosophical basis of our government- isn't something we think about, or even think about thinking about.

  • by pointing out how distant we are from that consideration, we're trying to get people to consider these issues, and whether one of the MANY things america might look at in reforming its election system (which it needs to do on many fronts) is whether exclusively-tuesday voting helps or inhibits turnout.

  • yeah, did you know that the Patriot Act is one of the worst violations of Civilian Rights? He also voted against the FISA amendment.

  • No, I'm from WI and he's one of the worst things to happen to the state. He voted against the Patriot Act, so I ask you - Who is protecting your rights?

  • You don't know anything about Feingold do you because he's the only guy in Senate protecting your rights.
