There seems to be a bit of a spring type action as the power bounces front to back. Could this be a disadvantage over a welded diff?

@wantapgt actually it is ideal for launching...in fact, mitsubishi designed an entire full time 4wd system known as viscous realtime 4 (aka VR4) which was installed into a few of mitsubishi's flagship vehicles such as the gallant, diamante and 3000gt. The idea behind it is that whenever you break traction the power is diverted from the slipping wheels to the gripping wheels.
