Not particularly. I've voted a good few times using STV. We use it for members of Parliament, MEPs and everything else really. It's basically just like making a list of your favourite albums or something! On your ballot you just rank your preferences; it isn't that complicated (except for counting, now that's tough!!)
Now I have a slightly better idea what STV is, but not completely. There's something about STV that might deter people from voting. People want the simplest solution and people might have a problem getting their head wrapped around a concept new to them.
