@NYPDwootwoot in the real story the children were living by themselves for nine months, and this is set in Japan, and you do often here about incidents in Japan occuring that you could never imagine happening in a western country because of the extremes they often go to ,to mind there own business

@Brinah You know what is making it worse for the whole movie? the mother left for a new boyfriend and course she get pregenant and get another child.. future kid without parents..

it's such a sad and depressing movie....those poor kids! I commend Akira for being responsible to care for his siblings but it was so unfair they suffered so badly!

I jus watched the movie on netflix and it was such an amazing movie one of the best all time.it was very touching and i realy dont watch these kind of movies,jus sad the real story is very harsh.

the song is call wind is from the japanese serie naruto, do a search on it on music programs and you may find it.

i wanted to like this movie but it was just soo unrealistic. The landlord doesnt ger her rent..so instead of being pissed or even concerned for all the kids squatting in her apartment, she just walks away. NO BIGGIE. And how did the kids live off of so little food for so long? where did they crap? No running water! I don't get it!

Well in the real story it took months for the landlord to find out they were all alone. So it isn't so unrealistic after all.
