On that era of Dover, it isn't uncommon for the counterweight to screech like that if not lubricated regularily. The 10-stop in my parents' appartment makes that noise 2 days after elevator company has been on site and continues until next time they come back...

I actually like dover and I agree there is no excuse for those elevators to run that way even though they are fixed up now Palace could of maintained them better than this

@irwinw2010 They used to be. Now they run quite well, although the controller is still screwed up.

This video got more comments than I expected. I actually now realized that this bad situation is not because those elevators are Dover/ThyssenKrupp, it is that the hotel didn't maintain those elevators properly. These elevators run quite nicely now, but are extremely busy and are still kind of messed up.
