Murat Kurnaz freed from Guantanamo, after 5 years, recounts his background. A Turk, born and raised in Germany.

In 2001 Mr. Kurnaz traveled to Pakistan to learn to read the Koran where he was taken by Pakistan police and apparently sold to the Americans.

Beatings, exposure to numbing cold, hanging by the wrists and having his head forced into a bucket of water.

Hearing held by Foreign Affairs, International Organizations, Human Rights, and Oversight Cmte.

  • @lygophile I thought you were mocking him - I apologize for assuming you were being rude - my bad!

  • @UWnic6090. didn't mean anything by it. just saw humor in it.

his english is actually quite good for someone that i'm guessing already speaks two other languages. and english is not my first language either.

  • @lygophile If you're trying to mock his imperfect English, you're both immature and heartless. Read his book ("Five Years of My Life: An Innocent Man in Guantanamo") and you may feel differently toward him. Your comment is disheartening - it's a prime example of the prejudice that caused Murat and others' unnecessary abuse.

  • "affilated"

don't think he knows what affiliated means.
