This is a 1988 Honda CR250 that I rebuilt. When I got the bike it was a complete roach. Everything was worn, missing stripped or broken or missing.

Here is a partial list of what I did:
-sandblasted the frame and powered coated
-new "modern era" footpegs
-new water pump cover, had radiators flushed and repaired
-split cases replaced all bearing and seals, replaced rings
-rebuilt the front and rear brake calipers, new brake pads
-recovered the seat with new cover and foam
-new plastics
-new air filter
-all new decals
-new grips
-new levers
-plenty of new hardware
-rebuilt and rejetted the carb
-suspension all rebuilt and set up for my weight. Front and rear suspension have Race Tech "Gold Valve" emulator kits in them.
-greased the front end bearings
-new tires
-new wheels and spokes
-stripped hubs and repainted
-new wheel bearings
-all new suspension linkage bearings
-new (used but great condition)exhaust and mounting hardware
-new fork boots
-new chain and sprockets
-new swingarm sliders and guides
-new air box mud flap
-new chain rollers
-new swingarm
-new right side engine case

I spent way more rebuilding the bike than what it is "worth" but is was every every cent and every moment I took to bring this bike back from the dead.
A very enjoyable experience.

I must give credit to Dave over at the Motocenter in Tempe, AZ 480-642-6686. www.motocenteraz.com He did the suspension and engine rebuilding. Dave should change his name to Mr. CR250 after all the time he spent on this bike.

  • your idle is set too high, these bikes should not really idle, you will gain more mid throttle performance if you jet for riding and not idling. Very nice looking bike though - I wish more people would restore bikes rather than part them out, good job.

  • @tomriddolls Pretty difficult to make a video of the bike running unless you set the idle high. Nobody wants to see a video of an arm turning a throttle.

    Appreciate the kind comments.

  • me and my moms boyfriend are doing electric work in an old barn and i took a break cause i know in old barns you can find old bikes and i found this bike but it is missing the top end so i go it for $400 and i am moving up from a cr125 until i can get a newer crf 450 and is it fast

  • Awesome machine and very nice resto job!!. I love 1980s bikes, and there is nothing on the planet that sounds better.. It is not always a money issue, but more satisfaction of bring a dead machine back to life!!
