Mr. Geralds horseshoeing is a working tradition that continues on and evolves with the times.  We dont rely on the horse like we used to; for many, he is a companion for sport or pleasure.

This film was made to show Mr. Geralds passion for his work, and to kindle interest in the process of making horseshoes and hoof care. We never know when we will need the horse again, like in the old days. Mr. Gerald has a lifetime of skills and stories to inspire another generation of farriers.

  • I would like to get a copy of the full video. Gerald is a geat guy and true craftsman. He is also a terrific teacher, I spent about 3 hourswith him 1 day and learned so much. I wish I had time to spend at least a week or more with him just to learn ironwork.

  • Hello!

The reproduction company will have copies made in about two weeks. At that time, Mr Gerald and I were talking about making a larger order He could then offer you one, or I can give you the link so you can order online & i can give you to.

    All best from Sandoors !

  • What a beautiful piece. This is a true art that is becoming extinct.

Thank you for doing such a wonderful job documenting my uncle! :) I have not seen him in person in 20 years, so that really warmed my heart.

  • It is so nice to see my Uncle Gerald on this clip. I never knew just how much hard work was involved in this profession.

  • Gerald is wonderful. He saved my mare "Kick and Howl" and he put up with my big guy Partly Cloudy for years.

  • wow this acculy pretty cool to watch lol

  • Beautifully done! Love the editing and music. Mr. Gerald does my pony's hooves as well; he's great!

  • Well heck, someone just called me today, she moved to a barn where Gerald is still shoeing, and she told me I was totally right, that when Gerald did her horse yesterday it was great.

Gerald trained under my old farrier, Mr. Millican, who was grumpy but great, 4 steels hotshod all around ever 6 weeks. Gerald is great, and he shod my wonderful mare Kick and Howl (Callie) and my difficult WB Partly Cloudy.

  • What a great piece. I don't think anyone really appreciates a great ferrier as Mr .Gerald. He is truley one of a kind, and you documented it beautifully, looking forward to the finished product. Please let me know when it will be available. Much thanks again and keep up the good work.
