Spann Watson, a 92-year-old Tuskegee airman from Westbury, N.Y., flew in Harry Truman's inauguration ceremonies in 1949. Mr. Watson returned to D.C. with a special invitation to Barack Obama's swearing-in.
We stopped in front of your quarters, at Bolling AFB, on the way back to NYC with the Tuskegee Airmen of the Claude B. Govan Chapter, NY/NJ/CT. I saw Edna and Weyman but missed you, Spann. You are still going strong at 92, God has blessed you! Thanks for sharing your story and my thanks to the New York Times and Brent McDonald.
