I recently bought a used and beat up Lite-On LVC-9016G set-top DVD recorder. The DVD tray was busted but a friend helped me fix it. (He did most of the actual work; I only followed his advice.) So the thing has great recording quality, but it's a pain to actually get the damn files off the DVD-RW disk I'm using.

But whatever! This is me playing Fatal Fury 1 in Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 1. I chose this game because it was one of the first NeoGeo games I actually beat on my own back in ... 1992 (I'm old!). And also because I like the soundtrack. This is being played at the maximum available difficulty in the game (since the game is running in home mode) and arranged music. I'm also playing with a default Dual Shock 2 pad, which accounts for me messing up sometimes.

This is -not- a perfect playthrough. I lose a few rounds, and even lose to Geese Howard later in the video. But, it's a pretty good example of how I play the game.

Enjoy watching me play and listening to the AWESOME music in this game!

Expect MORE uploads soon.

  • I have this for the Neo Geo AES and Geese will NOT block a burn knuckle. He pretty much counterthrows everything on there. I'm not a fan of the Battle Archives translation of this game. That said, good job.

  • @theshooter2000 Funny you should say that, I played the hell outta this game in arcades back in 1992-93 (oh god I'm old) and Geese ALWAYS grabbed me while doing a Burn Knuckle. He did that to me with Andy's Zan-ei-ken, too.

The only way he wouldn't do that is if I cheated and spammed the hell outta either one before the enemy got up. The CPU never blocks it for some reason.

That said, the emulation is very well done, so I don't understand why you didn't like it. :)

  • @Foxhack Same here, I loved this in 91. Yeah, on MVS (arcade) mode for the AES that tactic works, but Geese blocks on Hard mode even after getting up most of the time (not always).

I pretty much just throw him to win as he has almost no response to it. I'm just not a fan of the newer tracks and the translation seems to be a bit off (from the arcade). Also, they emulate the U.S. version. The Japanese one is just a tad bit bloodier (My AES is Japanese so by default it plays uncensored).

  • @theshooter2000 Strange. The game text isn't modified in any way - the text is the same in the arcade version. Other than the removal of blood and some other stupid things (like Japanese voiceovers in AOF1), it looks the same to me. But you own the game, so you know better.

I wish SNK Pee had left the option to choose the region and a "proper" difficulty (Levels 1 to 8) instead of the AES ones.

At least those idiots at Terminal Reality didn't get their hands near this version... thank $deity.

  • OMFG! thank you! i've been trying to beat Raiden for a long time. He cheats.

  • Did you look at GEESE? That block to grab move is supposed to only grab me when I attack him, yet he does it any time I'm close! Friggin' SNK Boss Syndrome...
