i love this but it would be even better if it paused for a maybe 10 or 15 seconds when it fits back in so that when it starts up again it might surprise someone just walking by

really this is just someone with
a. ready access to hydraulics.
b. Far too much money

This is a great piece of 'modern art' - Its on a normal street in Liverpool so the audience is huge - not hidden away in an art gallery. And it works - I have seen hundreds/thousands of people enjoying it, discussing it, arguing about it and taken part in some of these myself. Forget the empty concept of 'meaning' - its easy to write deep rubbish about art, come and see it - it works...

I can't agree. This is brilliant in it's conception, very clever in the impementation and according to the information banner; it runs 12 hours a day.
Only in England could something as good as this be so poorly presented. Perhaps that's the idea, let it speak for it's self!
Does anyone know if Richard Wilson has produced anything else or if he has something in the making?
