The Shoot Me Film & Music Festival will be held from the 7th until the 16th of Oct 2011 in the BINK36 in The Hague. The combination of an international selection of documentaries, movies and experimental films with live music is unique. At this 7th edition the weekends will be about Brooklyn and Africa, you will jump into the history of The Hague in the special boat trip in town, you'll get to see sixties style movies and watch typical Brooklyn Film Classics from your car at the Drive-In Cinema.

From Brooklyn till Africa!
Both the Shoot Me weekends will focus on Brooklyn (8-9 October) and Africa (15-16 October). Brooklyn (Breukelen) was the first place in New York where the Dutch settled in 1624. The neighbourhood is known for its rich history of film and creativity. The program will focus on Brooklyn based filmmakers, with highlights such as a special retrospective of the New York filmmaker Spike Lee and a drive-in cinema on the parking lot.
On 15-16 October, the program will be all about Africa, with special attention for the innovation, creativity and future of young African filmmakers, artists and musicians. In this final weekend of the festival, there will be films in collaboration with the film festival Africa in the Picture, the Africa, WOW! Film competition, the Dutch premiere of The Africa Project and live music with the African Soundclash together with Jam de la Crème.

Highlight: Retrospective Spike Lee
The wilful filmmaker Spike Lee from New York will be honoured by Shoot Me with a retrospective of his work. Lee is known for films such as Malcolm X (1992, with Denzel Washington) and 25th hour (2002, with Edward Norton). He had his first big success in 1989 with the movie Do the Right Thing, about his hometown Brooklyn, New York. Lee makes socially committed movies in which music often plays an important role. In the retrospective at Shoot Me, we will screen Crooklyn, Bamboozled, Do the right thing, Clockers and 25th Hour.

Highlight: Music Video Night
The Dutch Music Video Competition is the first Dutch competition that is purely about music videos. During the Dutch Music Video Night on the 13th of October, the audience chooses the best national and international music video. You will get to watch the documentary about the amazing life of singer/songwriter José Gonzàlez and the Dutch premier of the documentary about Elle Bandita, including a Q&A with the makers and an acoustic performance by Elle herself! You can participate in a unique 3D music video experience and we will show you a compilation of music portraits in collaboration with Pitchfork.tv, the online platform from Brooklyn, NYC for independent music, music videos and documentaries. The night will go on with performances by Mr. Newton & U.N.O.M., Sweatshop Soundsystem and KNALPOT.

Highlight: Maritime film experience with De Ooievaart
In cooperation with De Ooievaart and the Haagse Filmbank, we are organizing this unique maritime film experience on the 14th of October. You will be sailing on an open boat through the canals of The Hague, while an enthusiastic guide will tell you everything you have always wanted to know about the 'Hofstad'. While you make your way through the twists and turns of the canal, floating below the shadowy bridges, you will see a selection of old short films from The Hague, projected onto various walls.

Location: BINK36 (business area Binckhorst)
Creative hotspot BINK36 (former PTT-estate) is the main location of the Shoot Me Film & Music Festival. The Binckhorst area is a genuine cultural hotspot. A few years ago, the neighbourhood was in decline, and saw a sharp increase in the amount of disused buildings. However, the city council came up with new plans to liven it up. After demolition, renovation and construction, more and more cultural entrepreneurs began to settle in the Binckhorst. Today, the neighbourhood is a great example of what cultural entrepreneurialism can do for a city. By choosing this location, Shoot Me wants to show the audience that great creative things can come from crisis and demolition.

Tickets for the Shoot Me Film & Music Festival can be bought on our website: www.shoot-me.nl. Several tickets, including the passe-partouts (€25,-) for the weekends, are already on sale. All tickets will be available at the end of September. More info at www.shoot-me.nl
