go to hairfinder and find me just one hairstyle among the contemporary

styles that remotely resembles one like this young girl received.

however, you will find many that are similiar to the ones Vidal Sassoon was

doing back in the 1960s including the Mod cuts.

incidentally, the styles in which he first became famous for: Nancy Kwan, Mary Quant.. was between `63 and `65.

now, a Bob like this is free to move and that is the way a hairstyle should be!

  • @bobbette7

what's so darling about a hairstyle that is stiff and lacks movement?

there is nothing more sexy than a Bob free to swing sideways, back and

    forth.

  • @bobbette7

sassoon is still a huge influence on the industry today and you can see

a relationship between todays shorter styles and those of the 1960s , but there are no styles around today that even closely resemble the style that young girl was given.

as much as a few might love to see these 1960s hairdos make a comeback it won't happen. most women wear their hair long anyway and among those who get it cut shorter they would never consider getting a style like that girl got.

  • @bobbette7 actually you are incorrect on both

the sassoon styles revolutionized the hair industry

and were more commonplace in the late 1960s than

these types of hairstyles which were very dated by 1968

the "lifting" of the crown has nothing to do with it. it's the

overall structure and appearance of this particular hairdo

which would have been more appropriate for a 50 year old

    woman by that time.

  • @bobbette7 but nonetheless the style does have darling little guiches with flicked-up ends harkening the flip all set off by the ever-so-trendy bow which I love all three of those points seen all throughout the '63-'69 era.

  • @longhairispasse I wouldn't call that a "Grandma style" it is perhaps because of the shape of the crown being lifted a bit too square looking more like 1964 or even'61-'62ish which for '68 when longer hair (longish bobs with huge guiches were the last of the beautiful short styles til the '75 Wedge came on, would have been a bit devastating for such a young girl. The styles you are refering to were more of those awesome years of '65-'67! And yes, she would have perhaps been happier.

  • @bobbette7 poor girl. she probably did not have much

choice in the makeover and she does not look too happy

    with the results.

I think if she was given a more modern style(at that time)

such as a sassoon Bob she would have been much more happy

with it than the "Grandma" hairstyle that she was given.

  • Oh my WORD! That 1st Before & After is Astounding!! What a difference a major haircut can make! She went from a little schoolgirl to a smart young lady in 45 minutes! WOW!!

  • gorgeous styles--love the split screen!
