Basset Hound wants a hug

My basset Saffron learned how to give hugs on her own. And other than this video, I do not encourage her to do this. she just does it on her own and I try and get her to sit down right away.
She is 9 years old now and still as agile as ever so we have been lucky

that dog is adorable! i have TWO basset hounds and I have taught them to sit, stay, lay down and roll over but I am having trouble teaching them to do that trick. how did you do it?

Didn't teach her that. She just started doing it on her own.

You have to be careful with the Bassett's spine having such a long body makes it difficult to do certain things. I was told by my vet not to train my dog to sit up like that, bad for his back later on. But the dog is oh so cute.

Oh I DID NOT teach her that. She just started doing that on her own. Have no clue how she figured it out but now she realizes she gets a lot of attention from it (espscially in public!!!!)

mine too does that i had a mixed breed many years ago had to teach him that but my basset just did it by herself...they really are the most adorable dogs in the world:)

@dante2810 O: MINE DOES TOO!!! He just did one day but now we taught him how to do it on command. He also starts to dance (he walks on his hind legs backwards) when he really wants a treat!

I have a bagle hound looks almost exactly like this dog. The perfect dog except they're hard to potty train i hear especially girls. Mine's a girl.
