Amp - 1978 Fender Champ Silverface. All original including original tubes.

Guitar - 2001 American Standard Strat, Rosewood fretboard. Texas Special pickups.

Effects - Boss DD3 Digital Delay, dialled in for a bit of reverb.

Bluescat, your playing is just fine. You capture the soul of the piece well. My champ is a 1974, given to me by my Dad brand new in Feb. 1975. It too is totally original. I'll never let it go!

@putter069 thanks putter. Yeah they are a great amp. I have a confession to make, I did let this one go.

I did however pick up a 1970 Vibrolux Reverb so Im still in the Silverface game :)

hello, nice sound... i have a 79 myself too.... how do you find the bass control... I don't know if it's mine or not.. but i find it not do much, can barely hear the difference. Do you find that to be the case too?

Yeah the tone stack on the silverfaces isnt that great. With a larger speaker youd find youll get a lot more bass response but through the 6" theres only so much bottom end you can get.

beautiful sound . I had one back in the early 80's when I first started playing and traded it in , didnt know what I had. Also had a princeton reverb . man , wish I had those now.

Silverface fender amps have the great tone but different faceplate, a look that i love :)

I have a real strong appreciation for the way you played that great SRV lick. I have a 78 VC it has all JJ Electronics in it except for the original 5Y3 rectifier tube. I also put in an Italian Jensen 4 ohm ALNICO magnet 8" speaker in it and it sounds way cool!

So many people bitch about the Silverfaces, because they are not black or brown faces or tweet, they claim that the silverfaces all sound bad, but they are just different! the silverfaces are so clean and IMO pure sounding, I mean I have a 66 blackface bassman that I LOVE but i still wouldent mind having a couple silverfaces :] someday soon I bet they will skyrocket in price too.
