Music from Rob Gardner's "Lamb of God" album: http://www.SpireMusic.org/lamb

The Via Dolorosa features over 100 figures--men and women that have left their footprint on Christianity. The man in the middle represents the modern Christian...a man who must make a choice. It takes courage to be a Christian in today's society. The man in this painting, puts his hand on the shoulder of Christ because Jesus is the source of his strength. The man holds up his right arm as if to say, "Be still, for I know that Jesus is the Christ!"

Says Jon McNaughton, "I got the idea for this painting as I walked through a street in Jerusalem called the Via Dolorosa. This is the road where traditionally Christ carried his cross about 2,000 years ago. I thought to myself: 'If I had been alive then, would I have watched from a comfortable distance or would I have come to His defense?' Today, true Christians are the most persecuted people in the entire world. Yet many of us stand idly by as we are mocked and persecuted for what we know to be true.

"I wonder," continues Jon McNaughton, "if Christ were on the earth today, would the world want to crucify him again? Would you stand up for the truth and testify that he is Jesus the Christ? As true Christians, we must not fear to speak the truth, even if it means we have to stand alone in the world."

When all is said and done, where will you find yourself standing on The Via Dolorosa?

  • Love the picture except for "mother" Theresa who appears to be honored here. That poor woman believed in faith by works. That is why she didn't give anyone in her "hospitals" pain meds. She would tell her "patients" that they were "suffering for Jesus." "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8

  • Funny how people are all set to condemn others, and judge them in a negative manner. I thought this country was based on religious tolerance not intolerance. The over all theme here is to mock others beliefs. Sad how those feel that they are better than others make such remarks.

Lets face it LDS is like any other religion, they believe they are the only way to heaven. Why don't mock all other religions too?

  • @Vorzt

Yes, it's too bad we need to tell you what you believe because you're so uninformed about your own religion.

A surprising number of Mormons follow a sort of "cultural Mormonism" where they have very little detailed knowledge of actual Mormon teachings. Like you.

When I, however, speak of Mormonism, I'm speaking of the OFFICIAL published doctrines of the LDS authority--which can be checked by anyone.

Just because you don't follow those doctrines does not change WHAT THEY ARE.

  • @UncleIrv

I always enjoy when non-Mormons tell Mormons what Mormons believe.

    It's most humorous.

  • @Vorzt

I do not base my choice of words on "how they sound." I base my choice of words on whether they are ACCURATE. The words I chose were accurate. I am not going to worry about whether people are "offended" as long as what I say is true.

If you're Morman, you must face the fact that your "extra biblical revelations" contradict the bible (and scientific fact) in many ways. They also originally contained racism. But they're YOUR writings. Why blame others for pointing it out?

  • @UncleIrv

Don't use words like "condemn" or "corrupted" to make it sound more severe than it is.

  • @worghal

He's LDS, I took the statement as "It takes courage to be a mormon".

With the outright lies that are said about the church, and being mocked by atheists and Christians alike, it does take courage.

  • "it takes courage to be a christian" i cant agree with this.

an atheist wont care if you're religious or not and will just go his/hers way.

a christian will oppose his beliefs onto an atheist or any other religion and in many cases resort to violence.

  • @rebeccaweisler

You have learned well from leftists, adopting their "political correctness" based propaganda tactics.

There is no reason to assume people who criticize Mormon theology are guided by hatred, bigotry, or any other emotion. LDS theology irreconcilably contradicts biblical theology on many points. To observe an objective fact is not hateful.

Fact is, LDS doctrine officially condemns mainline Christian theology as corrupted. People who live in glass houses...

  • Franklin and Lincoln in that picture? Hm, I thought they weren't Christians.
