I removed a tumor from a rat. The rat woke up from surgery and is doing fine.

  • @onixspider Surgery is not the biggest problem with these animals, anestesia is. Rats are VERY sensible to a sedative called Xylazin. I shall never use it again because it killed a healthy male rat after castreation. Nowadays I only use Ketamin.

  • yes i know all about that for sure.. not fun, a rat group member just lost her precious lil hairless girl who had a mammory tumor that she actually ATE almost all of.. wierd thing is, there was no blood and she was fine.. until she had gotten the rest removed and stitched, she died barely an hour later:(

  • @onixspider The rat recovered very well. Tumors are quite common in rats, unfortunately. The only option is early surgery.
