Since I didn't use that much panel voices, this MIDI should be compatible with the old XG softsynth. If it really is, please give some feedback.

Game: Donkey Kong Land 2
Composer: David Wise
Gameboy Arrange: Grant Kirkhope
The second MIDI completely sequenced from scratch in less than two months? Holy shit, looks like I'm slowly but surely getting the hang out of it after more than 10 years of fail.
I'd even say I now prefer sequencing from scratch over working with other people's horribly structured GS MIDIs.
But since this one was pretty easy to sequence (GB channel muting ftw), it wasn't too demanding... well, until my megalomania ran riot and I pretty much threw in every single effect XG offers. Looks like I pretty much mastered XG now.
Um, doesn't the arranged section sound quite horrible? Well, at least I finished it.
Donkey Kong Land 2 was the first game I bought on my own, to get a break from all those edutainment software my parents threw at me.
The rapid square lead of this track was just so cool back then. And since the developers probably also thought that way, they've put this song in _every single_ stage of Gangplank Galleon except for the first one, which had Snakey Chantey. With this, they got out of the way of translating Klomp's Romp and Jib Jig to 8-bit... yeah, just blame it on the cartridge size like you always do.
After doing some more research on this game and finding out that it was in fact a port of the SNES original, I found it to be really strange that not this, but Stickerbrush Symphony is the most beloved track of this game. I always hated this one, and still do, since it really embodies the feeling of getting stabbed by some brambles while the sun burns on your skin, which is an awful feeling I never enjoy to remember. I'd rather dive in the cool waters of the ship hold and dream of mermaids (yeah, that's for you, PFA). But I think I can understand that the original SNES version of the song just isn't that cool.

@SOUTHWESTENZ Of course! You don't have to ask me for this. This is exactly the reason why I'm making MP3 and MIDI downloads so readily available, so that anyone could use this for any purpose.
It would be nice if you could link back to this channel somewhere.

Hey, you should work with Ocremix!
Also, I like it!

Don't think they'd ever accept MIDI, no matter how good it may sound.
Also, I'm not a fan of this whole forced ReMixing of childhood memories beyond recognition.
