Oh my gosh, I am showing my age, I think on the whole society is becoming dumber. Smart computers yes, smart people no. When I was younger, it seems like traffic accidents were relatively low, because people had to concentrate on their driving or they would simply end up on the slab. These days, when I drive down the freeway; these safer cars trick people into driving faster and clumsier, and they still end up on the slab. So in short society needs to balance technology with street smarts.

Who will be 'designing our own minds,' creepy Asian man? The BBC, as ever. Exponential horse manure.

I'm only 18, but some of the things we've had in the last five years didn't seem plausible for me as a child, so...who knows?

We are not living in a smarter world, people today are dumbing themselves down, yes we have made progress with science, engineering, progress with technology, medication, but all of this is attributed to a very small percentage of the population.

Ridiculous. Science (via consumer technology) has enabled the ignorant to flourish.
