Kirwan has that distinctly Irish knack of making you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

I didn't know who Steve Kirwan was until I caught him on Sirius Disorder during Celtic Crush (Chanel 70, Saturdays, 10:A-1:P Eastern). I have come to enjoy the show and his music that he plays a lot. I like this song especially because how it was written (from soldiers letters) and how it makes me feel from the different point of view.
Steve Kirwan is a passionate, real, and down to earth artist.
Please come to Baltimore.

Black 47 creates wonderful combinations of traditional Celtic music with Rap and other contemporary genres; all the while remaining true to radical Irish irreverence and iconoclasm and keeping faith with the constant struggle for human rights and dignity everywhere. Jonathan Swift would be proud!

i love how the "Minstrel Boy" tune is used in this song....
-
It's Larry Kirwan that fronts Black 47, not Steve Kirwan. :-P

I love everything about this band, but especially the words. Heart, intellect and guts and a high value on freedom, that's what Black 47 is about.

Just saw them tonight...they were great!

In my opinion...Larry Kirwan's lyrics took a wrong turn after the Green Suede Shoes album. Rhyming isn't for everyone I guess....Oh well.

If rhyming is what your looking for, I suggest you go back to nursury school.Listen to the words fenianguy.
