Millions of Americans with disabilities rely on hope to get them through each day; hope for a breakthrough; hope for gaining or reclaiming independence; and hope for a friend. Each year, hundreds of them find hope at a handful of organizations across the country that train assistance dogs. Through a Dog's Eyes follows the journey of service dogs and the people whose lives they change. Watch the show, narrated by Neil Patrick Harris on April 21st, 8pm/7pm -- check local listings at http://to.pbs.org/bD87ai -- Through a Dog's Eyes, will have you seeing dogs in a whole new light. Based on the book, "Through A Dog's Eyes" by Jennifer Arnold, founder and director of Canine Assistants.

  • My son with DMD got his service dog from Canine Assistants! The best experience, wonderful people, he is so happy. The way he looks at my son and just does what he needs to without a command. My son is so happy! Thank you canine assistants!

  • @TehAustrianMonk -As someone with a spinal injury and difficultly getting around, I can tell you how much a positive attitude keeps us from getting depressed or bitter about what we can't do. I try to always focus on how much I can STILL do, the fact that I can still walk, given the injury I have, is a miracle in itself, and something I am thankful for every day. I am planning to get a service dog, I'm really excited about it. Your comment is very kind, thank you for it.

  • I love the fact that people with these sorts of illnesses, or as a matter of face anyone with a disadvantage in moving around, seeing the world ect..ect.. are always happy, they have ever reason in the world to not be happy but yet they are so friendly, happy and proud of themselves.

This film is truly inspirational and very touching.

  • @ServiceDogMom2005 i would like to train one of my dogs as a psychiatric service dog. have ptsd, and simply do better when she's with me.

how do i go about getting her certified. she already does what i need (lean in on my, lay on my chest (decrease heartbeat/anxiety); i would do better if i could take her with me everywhere.
