The design of "The Revolin Fiddle" rules it out for all lefties. It is a pity because it seems to have made huge strides forward with response and tone or is it just Alasdair's ability to adapt to this new instrument? To me, it really sounds amazing.

@oMaoildeirg I think he's playing a Revolin model by fiddle maker Tim Phillips. Nice guy and sells well liked fiddles at a very reasonable price - a lot of trad players use them. He's got a good website if you google for it...

Great tone but he is not playing a standard shaped fiddle. Is a preference or is it a new and better design?

Gotta love the West Highland style! Man that is some seriously fluid playing there, the way it just flows so beautifully. Thanks for posting this brilliant vid!

LOL
Many scholars will say (and I believe it) that the Scots actually invented the reel.
I play Scottish and Cape Breton so I'm a little partial, but hey - I figure as far as Scottish vs. Irish we're all essentially cousins so it's all good
(and Altan is one Irish band I quite like, so that helps too!)
