I share a raw almond milk recipe today! Yummeroo!!! :)
Raw Almond Milk Recipe:
Soak 1 cup of almonds over night (or for about 8-12 hrs), rinse them off really well the following morning, put in a blender with a cup of water, blend well and pour through a nut/ sprout bag or cheesecloth into a bowl.
Squeeze the almond pulp (in the nut bag or cheese cloth) and use the pulp to make raw cheese, pizza crust, crackers, or in any kind of baked good or "unbaked" good. Here's an example: http://www.highonhealth.org/raw-almond-cookies-no-dehydrator-required/
Add about 2 more cups of water to mixture. Then add some sweetener if you'd like- Something like Stevia, dates (soak dates for 2 hrs in water, then blend with a little water in blender, then add to almond milk), honey or maple syrup. Vanilla bean or vanilla extract and/ or cinnamon also goes well in the milk. Pour almond milk into a glass jar/ container and keep it in the fridge. Drink within a couple days of making it.
**FYI, you can order a nut/ sprout bag through Amazon.com or call up some local health food stores to see if they have any... or, buy some cheese cloth for a couple buckeroos.*** http://www.amazon.com/Nut-Milk-Bag-New-Improved/dp/B00158U8DU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U...
Why soak your nuts? Here's an article that explains why: http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp_262145/The_Benefits_of_Soaking_Nuts_and_Seeds
Here are a couple of my personal recipes that I though I'd share with ya:
Fruit and Nut Buckwheat Cereal with Almond Milk:
Soak 1/2 -1 cup of buckwheat grouts over night. (Find raw buckwheat at a bulk or health food store) Rinse well in the morning and put in a bowl. Add chopped banana, blueberries, apple, or really any fruit of choice, raisins, nuts, cinnamon, and some stevia, or honey, etc. Top it off with almond milk! I eat this cereal quite a lot because it's quick, easy, delicious and packed full of protein, b vitamins, fiber, vitamins, minerals, ect, ect. Good stuff!
Apple Pie Smootie with Almond Milk
2 Apples (3 small apples) peeled and diced
1/4- 1/2 tsp cinnamon and if you have it, a pinch of nutmeg and a pinch of cardamom
3/4 cup almond milk
A few iced cubes
1-2 tbsp raw shelled hemp seed nut
1 tsp ground flax seed (optional)
Tsp Maca (optional)
¼ tsp Marine Phytoplankton (optional)
pinch of dulse (optional)
1 tbsp raw cashew butter (not needed, but makes it even creamier)
Stevia
Blend and enjoy!
Berry Bliss Smoothie with Almond Milk
Half a ripe banana
3/4 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
Small handful (approx. ¼ cup) Goji berries... Goji berries do have a pretty strong taste so be careful not to put too much... this is an optional ingredient
1-2 tbsp raw shelled hemp seed nut
Maca, Marine Phytoplankton, Spirulina or dulse (all optional) I just like adding them in because they're healthy & you don't really taste them.
1 cup almond milk
1 tsp ground flax seed
Stevia
Blend and enjoy!
If you want more of a green smoothie, add in some greens like baby spinach or kale! You don't even taste it in the smoothie since the fruit disguises the taste! Feel free to use the above smoothie recipes as an example. Have fun & experiment with your fav ingredients! There are no rules with the smoothie! Woohoo!

A much simpler solution -- just pour a glass of raw cow's or goat's milk, no recipe required, nature has done the job for you

@mikek241 Sure, raw milk would be simpler is it was available to the masses, but unfortunately, it's illegal, or simply not sold in most states and provinces in Canada. I have searched everywhere in Ontario, where I used to live, and couldn't find it anywhere. Unless you have your own goat or cow, or live in the country near a farmer that you trust, and are able to purchase his/ her raw milk, where are you going to get it? Simpler? I wish, really I do!

That looks nice, will try that soon :)
Question, do drink raw veg juice often or mostly have smoothies? or both :) ?
rwdford 1 year ago
@rwdford Both. Probably smoothies more often because they're faster to make. :)
