Maze is a psychological horror game designed and developed by Chris Atal, Yang Wen and Greg Louden for game programming over two group assignments. The games focus is to have the player uncover the story of the game through emergent and randomised story-telling within two mazes.

The first maze is a surreal hedge maze, while the second is a nightmare maze with monsters chasing and killing the player. We designed the game so that it appears to talk to the player through revealing information over 7 randomised cycles through emergent story-telling. My narrative design technique of emergent storytelling is basically the provision of randomized narrative information to the player to allow them to create or emerge a story from the information.

After experiencing the game, the team wants the player to question what they just played and most importantly want to play the game more to uncover some of the deeper meanings of the psychological horror experience.
