@snowqueen93 It does it automatically when you let go of the mouse. This blending is the difference between the healing brush tool and the clone stamp tool which doesn't blend.

please someone help the opacity option in elements 7 is not doing anything ,i want to get more of the sample color i selected with the alt key in the blend how do i do that?
there is a replace mode but that completely replaces the spot with the sample's color!

when I try using the patch tool, the surrounding areas of the patch fade to almost white. why is this?

Sorry mate, that's like saying "how long is a piece of string"! You need to give bit more detail on what you are doing what sort of image etc.
