Designed and invented by Greg Giese, the modular expander is a quantum shift in turbine design. The entire unit is bolted together and can be disassembled in 10 minutes. Based on the patented modular block concept by Giese, the turbine can produce anywhere from 10-30 kw net output. The unit produces a huge amount of torque and slower rotational speed based on a screw turbine, similar in operation to Archimedes screw. Common high speed turbines must utilized the high nozzle velocity of a pressurized vapor, while the modular expander uses lower velocity pressure to create shaft horsepower. The unit is so diverse that it can also be used in other applications, such as hydro and wind where lower velocity and higher pressurized media exist.

Currently the modular turbine is utilized in the Infinity Turbine model IT10 which is a ORC system.

ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) uses waste heat to vaporize and pressurized a a low boiling point liquid to expand through a turbine which turns a electrical generator.

Fuel cells, such as the Bloom Energy ( Bloom Box ) produce waste heat which can be used by this system, to make energy from the waste heat which would normally be vented to the atmosphere.

Any waste heat which can be captured or transferred to a fluid can be used by the ORC process. This includes engine coolant, engine or combustion exhaust, process waste heat, solar, compression heat, etc.

  • You can turn your nose up if you like but you're seriously under estimating the demand for small affordable turbines and expanders for the residential market.

  • @sevendesert

We are now offering the IT01 which is good for power as low as 500 watts to up to 5,000 watts (5 kw/hr).

Instead of providing the entire system, we have elected to go with the "Build Your Own Brand Program" that allows you to buy the core technology (turbine) and complete the system in your shop/facility.

This allows you to complete the system and sell to the public.

It allows us to focus on inventing and developing the technology

  • How is the speed controled?

  • @showaltermicro

You can control the speed in a variety of ways. The easiest is to have a servo valve on the hot liquid as it enters the evaporator. For AC generators, most now have a voltage controller as part of the power electronics.

  • Fantastic! Does each module contain tesla turbine disks, with interconnecting shafts? Does this mean that the IT10 could be scaled down to fit the residential price range, and scaled higher if necessary? My head spins with the possibilities. This is great work, and I wish you every success with the project. Keep going!

  • This turbine uses my patented modular block and disc technology, which is not based on the Tesla design. It's a expander technology that more resembles the Archimedes screw.

The turbine can be scaled up or down to any size.

At this time we have no interest in the residential market, due to the huge amount of support which would be needed for such a market. In other words, it's easier and more profitable to support the business market.
