The PMC do the work the soldiers did in the past but charge 4x the cost of a normal soldier.

Blackwater's men are normally ex-military, they are paid so much and have so little oversight that serving troops are now abandoning the army to join Blackwater, a Navy seal might earn $45k a year, if he swaps over to Blackwater he can earn $1000 a day - tax free.

how about because private contractors (Mercenaries) cost, at a minimum, twice as much as US soldiers? How about because they are not accountable for their actions? If a soldier opens fire on unarmed civilians, they will be brought before a military tribunal. They can act with impunity, slaughtering whoever they want to at will.

If Bush needed more soldiers for Iraq, perhaps he should have had recruiting stepped up. It's not like he couldn't have waited - after all, Iraq had no WMDs.

we never needed PMCs in Iraq, this was an example of the military industrial complex. The defense budget for PMC's profits went up over 25% last fiscal year when the budget is over 100 billion dollars. Blackwater is sueing the families of the four killed in fallujah, blackwater is a corporation used by the bush white house because of their training, their skills, and their immunity. You dont have to worry too much as a contracter in Iraq but soldiers have to watch every shot.

the Bush admin needed the PMC's cause of the military cuts made during clintons reign... the military was/is hurting for more soldiers, why NOT hire private contractors to supply troops? first rule going into war is make sure you have the numbers, and our military didn't have the numbers... dont forget congress shuffling their feet on sending more US troops, but they had no say on the PMC's sending their troops when people where needed.
