Garrison Keillor's News from Lake Wobegon monologue, "Alaska". Part 2 of 2 Taken from a book on tape, "More News from Lake Wobegon" with 4 tapes: Love, Faith, Humor and Hope. "Alaska" is the first monologue on the 4th tape entitled "Hope". It's my favorite, favorite one.
What a great story. Garrison is the best. It sounds like Mildred was inspired by the tall-tales of Paul Bunyan !
This is my down home answer to the superficial entertainment that is prevalent nowadays. I could listen to the bygone laments of Woe-be-gone days forever ; it reminds me of the good folks up in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Northern Michigan.

This was marvelous. :) I hadn't heard this one before. I am under-the-weather and really wanted to hear some Lake Wobegon--years and years ago I used to listen to it regularly.
Thanks.
