Well since one of my chooby friends is not good at goldmine I thought I would post a video of me getting some what far into it's depth's.
If you do not know anything about goldmine then here is a quick jump start. This is a game made my Andrew Gower when he was still making fun mini games outside of runescape classic.
Now regarding the difficulty settings at the start:
The ONLY difference I ever noticed it effecting game play was your characters jumping ability was slightly reduced. Which does make it impossible to take the first shortcut on level one.
I have of yet, not completed this game... One of these years someone might haha....

Holy cow, I remember playing this in early 03 (maybe late 02) around same time I started playing Runescape.

The gameplay kinda reminds me of Super Mario. Which isn't a complaint :D
