This is a large scale boss fight level that I have created in LittleBigPlanet.

The overall style and design of it's attacks are based offa the many, many shmups I've played.... thus where I got the name.

The boss is designed to be pretty difficult, but at the same time it's attacks, partcularly the third and 4th, are made to look harder than they actually are.

This was originally intended to go at the end of another level I've made, "The Castle of Dr. Insano", however the sheer complexity of this thing was too much; I had to move it to it's own seperate level, and even then, when I was finished with it finally, the thermometer is nearly filled to it's maximum level.

This took 3 weeks and alot of irritation to make.

I may produce a 2nd, easier version later on, for those that find this one to be too hard, but dont feel like doing that just yet.

The full name of this level is "Boss: Danmaku Rave V. 1.0". For anyone that sees this and may decide to try it out.

My tag on PSN is Bridget_

That's with that underscore at the end there, yes.

Hopefully someone out there might like this thing.

EDIT: I have updated this level since putting this video out. This level has gone from version 1.0 to version 1.3.

The changes that were made:

The problem with the disappearing bullets in the 3rd pattern is fixed. As such, 3 is now harder.

The 4th pattern originally was proven to be actually quite easy to dodge.... this has also been fixed. The 4th is now the most difficult of all of them. It takes much skill for the player to defeat this final section.

The gas wall to the right (offscreen, I messed up with the digital camera) has been de-hazarded, and is now a normal metal wall.

The boss now produces various sounds upon the completion of each stage, and upon it's defeat.

And finally, there is now an optional Race to be done here. To the left of the starting point a Race Gate can be found and activated. This allows players to try to play for score, by beating the boss as fast as possible. The faster it's beaten, the more points you will get.

  • When i play this with my friend at his house, the second form doesn't shoot anything... It just makes the glass rotate and no bullets come out...

  • @blackeyedp7 If you're playing it with LBP 2, ah, theres some bugs with it that cause it not to function correctly at all; I havent taken the time to fix it yet.

If you're playing it on the FIRST game and it's doing that.... then I dunno what to say. I havent really made even one change to the thing since the point when I took the video, so it should still work in LBP 1.

  • Hey Ive got a Request, Make a Danmaku like the real one, with jet packs?

  • @XyZxYz1293 I am indeed already working on a "real" danmaku; with a proper ship instead of Sackboy, scrolling levels, and all that fun stuff.

It's definitely for the 2nd game only though; the original LittleBigPlanet could never have managed this, but the new one certainly can!

There's alot of testing and such yet to be done though, so the new level is not ready yet. But I'll post a video here as soon as it is.

  • @neonuma101 The floor is actually considered, by the game engine, to be part of the boss. It's attached to the rest of the boss by something or other, I forget what. So the brains all being popped destroys the floor as well.

This is, though, infinitely easier in the 2nd game (as everything is), since you can have the game specifically destroy anything very easily. Getting it to work in the 1st game is a bit of a pain.

  • @Deihlanos Ah, that explains it. I've only seen Futari Xp Touhou's difficulty also doesn't seem to depend on the number of bullets, but rather on the pattern or the mixing of different shapes and sizes.

  • @fevimaster Actually, no. Only Futari ever really did that. Look to Ketsui or DDP for attack patterns that actually dont have that many bullets, but are extremely difficult.

Futari was sort of a special case, because that one's difficulty is sort of a whole other level beyond what the genre usually is.

Even in Futari though, some of the nastiest attacks dont have that many bullets, particularly depending on the game mode. For example, the third boss in Original...

  • @Deihlanos Really? To me, CAVE seemed like the one who went "moar bullet spamming" = impossibly hard.

  • Actually for myself, I'm working on a Danmaku too on LBP2. Right now I have testing Bosses and a working shooter thingy to kill the boss.

  • Try putting Mushihimesama Futari Ultra Mode into LBP2!

  • @Deihlanos Cool, yeah I forgot about how LBP2 has all these new controls and stuff haha
