Wreath laying on the WWII island fortress of Corregidor, scene of a devastating defeat of American and Filipino forces at the beginning of the war, and the recapture of the island, at the mouth of Manila Bay, in February, 1945. When MacArthur fled the isalnd, he vowed famously to return and he did that in early March, 1945.
