FORMER HOTEL IN AINSWORTH BC BURNS TO THE GROUND - TMTV/BCTV Kootenays (Teamwork Media Television) (Produced by TMTV, All rights reserved - copyright 2010 TMTV) June 3, 2010 MORE NEWS @ http://www.bctvkootenays.com (UNEDITED RAW FOOTAGE) TMTV NEWS AIRING ON GLOBAL TV & CBC TV. The former Silver Ledge Hotel in Ainsworth BC burned to the ground this morning. The fire stared next to the hotel in a trailer which was quickly destroyed by the fire and then spread to the former hotel. Kaslo Fire Department and other emergency agencies arrived on scene but could not save the old hotel. It burned to the ground shortly after. The hotel was built in 1896 and was being used as museum. Fire departments used the Kootenay Lake to fill the tankers to help save other buildings surrounding the burning hotel. Thanks goes to all the locals and emergency services for saving this small town from burning to the ground.

  • There has been so much loss in the valley recently wit the two fires in the Lardau valley here and the hotel at Woodbury going up months ago it is so sad, and one thing that is so frustrating to locals is when they see something like this that was arson every time it happens it not only takes a piece of the area but a piece of each and every person that love it Even worse is when the person is not originally from the area and he does this

  • The hotel was 114 years old. It was pretty much a tinder box and couldn't have been saved. The volunteer fire department did an incredible job keeping the surrounding buildings from going up. It was an enormous loss and is felt deeply by the people in the area and anyone from around the world who had visited. The open, public trial for the accused, alleged arsonist is on Sept. 6, 7, 8 & 9. 2011 in the Nelson, British Columbia courthouse.

  • I realize the cards were stacked against the fire department from the start, but actually shooting water INTO the windows instead of the unburnt deck may help in the future. Also get rid of that fog nozzle.

  • @lovetorrents why did they burn the place down??

  • What a real shame this is. I always hate to see cool old buildings end this way. Good news video and great job getting the collapse of the Hotel on camera.
