  • You are what you believe. The problem is that some minorities have been marginalized and programmed into thinking they are inferior for so long that they limit how much they put out. The moment they are broken free from this brainwashing they do better instantly. Black people who are proud of who they are always do far better than black people who see their race as a limitation.

  • The National African American Congress has no legislative power, and the NAACP is the National Advancement of COLORED People, not just African Americans but also Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, etc...

  • Wow! People rather debating than cussing out and saying "first" and took an "arrow to the knee"!

  • @takfam07 2) How one defining document could say "all men were created equal" whilst another showed how "men" could be counted as livestock. In a moral sense, the Enlightenment period did little 2 nothing 2 push man forward in a moral sense. The irony is n the fact that Existentialism would have proven to be of more help n that regard (in spite of the fact most people do not know what Nietzsche meant). Kierkegaard, Nietzsche (most don't know), and Sartre would have laughed n did at nationalism.

  • @takfam07 It is funny that you mentioned the "Enlightenment" because I majored in Philosophy and always thought it was funny for that period to be called "Enlightenment"! What the period was was really more of a change of "appeals" . Many of the same biases remained ,but the "appeal" to God was replaced by an "appeal" to "science". John Locke wrote the constitution for South Carolina which was meant to be a large slave plantation. The incongruence of the Locke, Hume. Kant and others are largely

  • @REASONINFUSION True. I think in Obama's case, they don't like his "socialist wealth redistribution" policies so some (not all) express their anger racially. I think the media fosters white outrage because of this paradox: one one hand, it claims far left white-guilt liberalism, overrepresenting blacks in middle class two-parent picket-fence homes (Allstate, etc.). On the other, "news reports" always display black criminality. Worse, Hip-Hop advertises, celebrates violence and moral chaos.

  • @REASONINFUSION You're right, the whole "Great Chain of Being" created by the Enlightenment Europeans to "scientifically" explain racial differences is always an amusing read. They held unabashed contempt for other races and their "primitive" and "pagan" ways. Historically, every culture (whites and non-whites) depicted itself as the top of the chain--everyone else bestial, savage, etc. But whites created more profound damage b/c they could act on this to a far greater degree than others.

  • @takfam07 2) and blacks on the "low side". Ohter groups that are non-black (including africans ironically!) are given "intermediate status". For more, the books, "How irish became white folks", "how jews became white folks" , "racist america", "when affirmative action was white". All on amazon. Not an excuse, just a reason for some issues concerning blacks.

  • @takfam07 What has to be remembered is that black college graduates have less chance of finding a job than whites with high chool diplomas. The issue is not the innercity black, it is the fact that Obama is still called a chimp in youtube forums by whites who make up a larger segment of american society than we can stomach. perhaps you should read "racist america" by Joe R Feagin, A White sociology prof. In the book he explains the "racial scale" that puts whites on the "high side"

  • @hoagiesupreme I hear you, but I'm also wondering-- maybe Asian Americans are the ones no one gives a shit about? They are less represented in TV commercials, movies, ads, etc. They hardly ever make the news, they're kind of invisible. Used to see them more, even if in demeaning roles-- Charlie Chan, Hop Sing (Bonanza), Green Hornet, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Arnold in Happy Days, Flower Drum Song, etc. Today-- almost zilch. Whereas blacks get plenty of coverage, Hispanics less so.

  • To me its obvious. Blacks and Hispanics are the two races of Americans that no one gives a shit about, they are more or less forced to live in poverty where the youth develops a survival mentality. In turn this creates a culture that values education very little. I think its something like 1 out of every 7 black children grow up without a father....you expect those kids to instinctively do well in school and stay out of trouble? Get real.

  • @lordblazer Yes if all African Americans thought like you, the problems would disappear. But so many-- probably the majority --still don't. Perhaps educated and broad-minded blacks like you can help forge a new code of honor, ethics and action that is free of old religious dogmas and irrational precepts. I think it all comes back to early education. Black children could be raised with a new kind of vision, based on education and citizenship as primary values. And helping each other succeed.
