James P. Johnson was a very famous composer and pianist. He is considered the inventor of the "stride piano" style. You should be proud to be named after him... even if it's accidental!

I wonder if anyone has the transcription of JPJ's 1930 take. And while we're at it how about the sheet music from "Harlem Hotcha"? thanks, Bill

You might ask on the Yahoo Group "EliteSyncopations".

Ok, thanks, Not to be Dumb, but how do I ask there? This rendition here is very much like the sheet music. The JPJ 1930 recording is much more fun in my opinion, but Patrick has definitely improved on the sheet music as written.

If you go to groups(dot)yahoo(dot)com and enter "EliteSyncopations" (no space) or simply "Ragtime" in the search box, you'll find the group. Quite a few notables in the ragtime community are active in there.
