bentgate.com First Impressions - Ski Logik Urrl's Chariot & Bombsquad

Bent Gate Mountaineering Presents a look at 2 new skis - the Ski Logik Urrl's Chariot and the Ski Logik Bombsquad.

Ski Logik is a new ski company that will be coming on strong in Fall 2010. Their skis are very distinctive looking - they all feature hand inlaid wooden topsheets - every pair is different due to the irregularities and coloration of wood (they are not stained).

Ski Logik was not able to demo their skis at the recent SIA on-snow demo, so we bought a few pairs of what we expect to be their best models for Colorado, and mounted them up with our favorite bindings. Today we were able to ski them around Loveland Ski area for a few cold hours and came back to work excited that they had exceeded our expectations.

The Urrl's Chariot model was good all around the mountain - groomers, bumps, powder stashes, and wind blown (Loveland's specialty). We thought a lot of folks would be happy having this as their 1 ski quiver.

The "Bomb Squad" blew us away! It was confidence inspiring from the first run, hanging onto the windblown and hardpack, but begging to go play in the soft snow. 9 1/2 lbs felt just right on these big boards 148mm/122mm/143mm in 188cm length - heavy enough to keep trucking ahead, but light enough to be easily maneuverable.




We mounted, but didn't ski the Howitzer. It is 137mm/110mm/131mm 3900g in 186cm length. It looks to be a smaller version of the Bomb Squad in overall shape and camber and comes in almost a pound lighter.

Both of us that skied the Bomb Squad today said it would be a ski that we would personally buy for ourselves (we say that for about 5-10 of the 60+ skis we demo each season). Ski Logik nailed this design - we fully expect both the Howitzer and Bomb Squad to be among our best selling skis this next fall - especially for folks who try them in our ski demo program and get to experience how good they are first hand!
