I can't decide what I'd liek Marq to do. Considering his size and speed, I'd rather just do running to not waste time, but he does have a habit of flying off the teeter, which is why I went back to 2o2o. So.. what do you think?

  • Without any doubt, I prefer running contacts. My doggy almost always flyied off the teeter too, but he was a little Shetland.

Hey, another beutiful pointer ;) How many beautiful pointers you've got?

  • He's my one and only pointer. :)

  • i would continue to do quick release. if you start running contacts you'll see what they turn into (new video of wrinkles coming) the dog begins to accelerate the down side...i'm not even sure wat to do anymore ;) lol. but anyways i think a wait, ok! works really well. He seems to be very reliable, I don't think he would blow it without u asking him to. just my opinion

  • The problem is his teeter. The 2o2o has made it sloooow. Check out his agilit class video to see waht I'm talking about.

  • Hmm.. He seems to do great with running.. But he did great with the 2o2o too.. soo.. Idunno I'm not much help lol.. But you running across the teeter was great!!! haha I wish I could do that with mine!!!

  • Lol! I LOVE my teeter. Not very portable, but no bounce and plenty safe! My dog walk and a-frame don't hold my weight as well though. So I don't run on those anymore. :p

  • i love running contacts there so much fun. as for the teeter teach him 2o2o on that. there not stupid they know the differnce :) my dog has running on the aframe and

2o2o on the dogwalk and see-saw

  • personaly I prefer 2o2o, just for consitency reasons, if you give a release right away, it doesn't slow you down that much.

  • I thought is looked great!! Keep it up! :-)

  • when you ran across the teeter i was laughing soo hard. you crack me up! :)

  • teaching true running contacts is actually more time confusing because it's confusing the the dog exactly what the behavior is. You can teach them to slow down and then release when they get to the contact, but in my opinion it is faster and MUCH more reliable to train stopped contacts because the dog knows exactly what the bahavior is and will learn to drive right into the position. Also gives you much more control on course/time to catch up with them if you need it!

  • even though he's doin great running, i would always stick with 2020. eventually, he'll get confused with runnin and start missin them or slowing right down. sayin that, on the teeter i always let the dog go once they have tipped it and neva really train that contact!

  • By the time you get into Excellent you will be releasing him as soon as he hits the ground so four-on-the-floor has the same end product as running just more reliable. Plus having a set behavior to do at the end can sometimes make the dog run faster if it's been trained clearly and reinforced enough, like my Boo had a dogwalk fear problem for a little while but as soon as he got onto the down side ramp he RAN into 2o2o because he knows his job now.
