Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- Lots of working people are calling at the Chongryu Restaurant which has been spruced up to suit the requirement of the Songun era. Spread in the octangular front-gate hall of the restaurant is a "jewel carpet" which delineates the lily of the valley with precious color stones. And its large-sized chandelier reminds one of bursting fireworks. The front wall of the main entrance hall is clad with mirror and its ceiling is decorated delicately, which add gracefulness to the restaurant. The large dining hall adjacent to the main entrance hall can house hundreds of customers at a time. Reflected on the front wall of the dining hall is a gigantic mural painting describing the Lagoon Samil at the foot of Mt. Kumgang, a world-famous scenic beauty. There are general dining rooms on both sides of the second floor corridor where people are served with the various national dishes including tangogi soup, beef with vegetables cooked in casserole and various kinds of rice cakes. Each room is arranged in its unique way. The walls engraved with beautiful flower patterns, lacquered tables inlaid with mother of pearl, chairs of various forms -- all these are delicate and graceful like artistic works. The building of the restaurant is arranged in a unique formative and artistic way. The more than 20 years-old restaurant serves more than 3,000 visitors a day with tasty national dishes of at least 50 varieties such as cold noodle, beef with vegetables cooked in casserole, scalloped soup and sinsollo. Kim Jong Il Gives On-spot Guidance to Reconstructed Cultural Establishment and Renovated Public Catering Centers
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the reconstructed cultural establishment and renovated public catering centers in Pyongyang. The Taedongmun Cinema House, Okryu Restaurant and Chongryu Restaurant which had served the people for a long period as buildings symbolic of the WPK's policy of love for people have been reconstructed or renovated as monumental structures in the era of Songun, bringing great joy to the people of the country who will significantly mark the diamond jubilee of the DPRK.
The last leg of his guidance was the renovated Chongryu Restaurant. He learned in detail about the renovation of the restaurant, walking round the exterior and interior of the restaurant. He highly appreciated the feats performed by the soldier builders, greatly satisfied to learn that they have completed the renovation project qualitatively in a brief span of time.
The Taedongmun Cinema House, Okryu Restaurant and Chongryu Restaurant are the fruits of the great love as they represent President Kim Il Sung's idea of believing in people as in Heaven, he said, adding: It is our sacred duty and noble moral obligation to glorify generation after generation these precious heritages bequeathed to us by the President. He underlined the need to spruce up the above-said cinema house and restaurants at the best level as cultural and catering centers for people, and steadily improve service to people and thus give fuller play to the advantages of the people-centered socialist system in the DPRK. He was accompanied by Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Jang Song Thaek and Pak Nam Gi and other senior officials of the WPK Central Committee and KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.
