Rare clip of The Mamas And The Papas performance on Hullabaloo TV show in early 1966. Song was writen by John Sebastian from The Lovin' Spoonful. In that day, M&Ps also performed "California Dreamin' " and "Nowhere Man".

  • One of the weirdest parts of Hullabaloo, was when all the guests on any given episode would get together and belt out a current hit like this. It often made for some very strange bedfellows.

In this case, Bobby Rydell, The Mamas & Papas, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, Noel Harrison and Dionne Warwick aren't really all that unlikely an ensemble, but some of the other episodes were downright strange.

  • Love it. Michelle is having a ball! Michelle Phillips came in to my restaurant in Carmel a few years ago with family and son in law Steven Baldwin ( who made sure he had his back to the room because he didn't want to be bothered) I couldn't have cared less about him, when Michelle Phillips of the mamas and papas was there. I respected their privacy but at one point I did refer to her as mama Michelle, she was so gracious and friendly. It made my day. Love her!!!

  • back when people actually knew how to sing and weren't afraid to do it live

  • I think I must be hallucinating. I couldn't have seen and heard what I've just seen and heard. It's just not possible. That was strangely odd. And where was Kermit?

  • I met Michelle twice, in Greenwood, SC and Boston, and yes, she is a very gracious lady.

  • @fiffer69 Her son-in-law is Billy Baldwin. Stephen is his brother. That is pretty cool that she came in there and you talked to her. Must have been fun!

  • Wasn't Dionne Warwick beautiful?! She was singing with Noel Harrison from "The Girl from UNCLE."

  • AWESOME CLIP TOTALLY FREAKIN GROOVY !!

  • The fashions they are wearing are perfect for now. The tunic look for the girls, both sexes wearing tight jeans and boots with dresses...things never change. Hey great video. Thank you.

  • Michelle Phillips: forever the "It" girl

  • @IDLERACER So many shows did this during that era. It brought honor to the original artists and provided unity amongst artists, and happiness.
