This trippy tribute to our country's 200th birthday was funded by a Bicentennial Project Grant and animated by Vincent Collins who made other psychedelic cartoons. This film was produced by the United States Information Agency

  • wow! flashback.... i remember how colorful '76 was, the psychedelic thing had completely gone from 60's underground to commercial mainstream..... everything seemed to get painted over night.....all the fire hydrants and mail boxes got a psychedelic face-lift by the high school kids... thanks for posting....that impossible star at the end IS amazing!

  • I've seen this at least twice this week on TV (and taped it). and it's on again tonight. I was drawn (no pun intended) to it, which is why I've watched it each time.

  • what's the name of the song??

  • this is seizurelicious

  • @rubix71 I remember the fire hydrant painting and all the re enactments of Revolutionary war battles.America caught Bicentennial fever even before 1976. I remember in 1973 when was in grade school,a teacher had a son who had his own band. They made a single called Happy Birthday USA" and she handed a 45 copy out to her students

  • My favorite parts were the flashing buffalo and the horn of plenty of hot dogs.

  • Vincent Collins sure was a tripper! Or was he???

    Nice animation and soundtrack.

We should have done something like that over here but we didn't have the CIA dropping acid into our universities... so far as I know (I am a bit too young).

    God Bless America...

  • I don't even need drugs, I have my own subconscious to weird me out!

  • @denver720303 let's see you do it something like this. it takes talent to come up with this and even more to actually do it. This is art.

  • @OutOfTheBoxThinker thats an interesting point
