If they ever do a remake of the Starship Troopers movie as a proper, accurate adaptation of the book, with power armour designs taken from this OVA, and a Filipino actor playing Rico (bugs can be a combination design of the OVA and films using the books as a base of course)

There should be a scene where this music is playing over a jukebox in a bar.

The Remake should have a very serious tone, like a legitimate war movie, think Band of Brothers in space.

@Perion If you ask me this is how it should be done

1.) Young Filipino actor for Rico

2.) Power armor designs from the OVA

3.) Complete redesign of the Bugs to match one of the book's covers, depicting a Bug

4.) Skinny design taken from Roughnecks Chronicles

And I agree that a scene, perhaps the one with Ace about Rico taking O.C.S., should have this song play in a jukebox.

The thing about Rico's skin colour is that at the end of the book it's revealed that he's a Filipino. The book was written in the 50s and showed an incredible considerable amount of racial tolerance for the time (albeit in the context of an inter-species war). This is especially important considering the US's relationship with the Philippines in the early 20th century.

Never read the book, but why is the color of Rico's skin so important? Aren't there white people in South America? And in the future there is bound to be more White American type people living there.

@Perion Interesting take from the man I agree with here. I think there's instances where this song or something similar to it could play such as the "hump" Juan undergoes, the talk with Ace, the meeting with Emilio, and the ending where Rico leads the Roughnecks. I'm not sure who could play certain characters, since, well, Heinlein doesn't develop the characters too much, but I'm up for Lou Diamond Phillips playing Emilio. I just hope my screenplay (or someone else's) gets submitted and accepted

If it's done in the near future then Rico's father should be played by Lou Diamond Phillips. He's a great actor, he's Filipino, he's done Sci-Fi (Stargate Universe) and he's done stuff involving War Movies (An Officer and A Movie on the Military Channel.)
