These four short clips are about my most recent motorcycle purchase. When I sold my 1990 Yamaha xt 600 I wanted to purchase another dual sport bike. I purchased a brand new 2006 Kawasaki KLR 650 in Feb 2008. Since I usually keep a motorcycle for many years I figured I could still enjoy a left over model. Considering these KLRs didn't change much over the years I would enjoy the money savings.
In the video I tried to capture what it is like to buy a new bike in the middle of the winter and to pay cash for it. I have owned many used bikes through the years but this is only my second "Brand New" motorcycle. The first one was a 1985 Honda V65 Magna then listing for $4048.00 , back then I was only able to come up with $500 and had to finance the remainder. Now I am 51 years old and it is a little easier to get the cash.
I only drove the bike the 65 miles to get home so I can not do a complete evaluation but if the ride home is any indicator I am going to like this bike for light off road use and commuting back and forth to work. Perhaps I'll do another video once I own the bike for while. This is my first ever Kawasaki. Please leave a positive comment if you enjoy the videos. Be sure to see all four in order if you can. Thanks for viewing
In part one you will hear on the phone talking to the dealer. When I looked at the bike I advised the dealer I was waiting for medical test results as a 5 year follow up to having cancer. If the test results were positive I would not be buying the bike. If the results were negative for cancer I would purchase the bike. The good news for me was the test was negative for cancer reoccurrence so I went ahead and purchase the bike. It was great way to celebrate the good news.

  • This has been one of the most informative if not the most informative bike review i have seen on youtube about the process of purchasing a bike...I love dual sport bikes especially. the versatility is unbeatable. Your model in my opinion is one of the best dualies i've seen. Would you recommend this bike for someone who has never ridden before?

  • @nnas0501 I wish I could answer your question. I can tell you this bike is tall. I personally like the feeling of riding tall. People that know about these things say you want to choose a bike that easily allows your feet to touch the ground when stopped.

  • G'day mate and greetings from Brisbane Australia. (Not so much snow here - the wait to pick up your bike must have been really frustrating). Just watched the whole series. Great bike and really enjoyed your vids.

  • @TKTex1 Thank you for that nice compliment

  • Wow man I watched all 4 videos all the way through... you kept me entertained.... I dont know how you did it!!

  • @Iroquois14 Thanks for that compliment and I am glad to hear you enjoyed the video.

  • I'm 48. Been riding street all my life. Decided to go dual sport this year and bought a brand new, out of the box '09 KLR 650 in March. I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face since. I've put 7000+ kms (4300 mi.) in the few short months I've had it. Thanks for sharing your adventure; loved your vids.

  • Found this vid by an accident, excellent! In the end I got slightly excited like if it was me buying this bike. And maybe I should.

  • this how lazy america you pay at pump no walk inside and pay this why america fat

  • that's right, man.. take that spot back!!! I'm looking into getting one myself

  • Lol, the end was the best, but everything was great haha thanks for sharing your experience!

  • L. M. F. A. O. at her reaction to him not paying her toll!! hi-LARIOUS! and his dead silence in response to her money-pit comment? aw man - real life makes the best humor for sure....

  • Nice videos, thank you for sharing your experience. However, I have a small comment to make. At 2:30, you're standing in the blind spot of that truck. I'm an experienced rider myself and I've done that many times. It's quite dangerous because the driver can't really see you in his mirrors and there were times when people just backed up on me.

  • you're in Pennsylvania right?

  • LOL Typical wife comment; "Is this the first of the money pit?" (getting gas) Reminds me when my sister and brother n law argue over stupid stuff like how much he paid for a hamburger. "Don't you know you could have got two for one with this coupon I have!" LMAO ☺
