The Sweeney - opening theme - intro

john thaw looks hard it this. i could take him on later in his career when he played mr tom, or even when he was morse, but in the 70s i dont know. he looks like he could give you a right kick in the face with those slim square shoes, and then rough you up in the cell with a nylon jacket with sharp pointy collars too big for the coat style. then dennis waterman would enter the cell and beat you with a pack of cold fish and chips. poking you with one of those two pronged wooden chip forks.

At 0:20 does anyone else get the irresistable urge to sing 'The Sweeney, oh it's the Sweeney!' in a cockney accent, even though it's not in the song?

i remember being at a club in the elephant and castle in 1978 and getting into a fist fight with dennis waterman over a woman. he was a pretty good fighter and after trading a few blows i was thrown out. i had a black eye the next day but i had managed to give him a bit of a pasting before it was broken up.

Great show,currently watching some reruns.I used to sit and watch them with my old Man (Dad)back in the 70s.I can't stand any of these idiotic American Policing series,are there Cops really that thick?I doubt itEspecially that ginger twat who looks sideways at everything,whats that all about ?!The Sweeney had it all,drama,violence,misogny,sex ,great acting,comedy,it had the lot."If your Family had a Coat of Arms,it would have crossed Jemmies!"Inspector Jack Reagan.
